Chico State senior ace Michael Gleason (Willows, Calif./Butte College) fired six shutout innings of one-hit ball and faced the minimum through six innings of work in Chico State’s 12-0 season-opening and CCAA-opening victory against Cal State East Bay. He's been named Wildcat of the Week.

In his last 16 innings, dating back to last season, Gleason has not allowed a run and has surrendered just four hits.

Gleason struck out the side in the first and finished with four strikeouts, no walks, and hit a batter. The only hit he allowed was a ground double down the third base line to lead off the fourth. Both runners who reached against Gleason were erased on double plays.

Gleason will help lead the Wildcats into La Jolla where they will face preaseason CCAA favorite UC San DIego for a four-game series this weekend.
