Since 2017, Chico State softball fans have thrilled to the on-field exploits of Wildcats star Kristin Worley. Whether it's beating out a bunt, swiping a base, making a jaw-dropping defensive play, or just plain flying around the basepaths, the senior speedster seems to always find herself at the center of the action. Worley provided her usual share of excitement in the 'Cats' four-game set against Cal State Monterey Bay last weekend, doing a little bit of everything to help Chico State sweep the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) conference-opening series with the Otters. Worley's all-around efforts makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Worley, who entered the season with the highest career batting average (.374) in program history, hit .455 (5-for-11), scored four runs, walked five times, drove in two runs, and stole three bases while posting a .636 slugging percentage and a .625 on-base percentage to help the No. 20 Wildcats improve to 9-0 on the season.
In Friday's doubleheader, Worley coaxed a two-out, bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth to force home the lone score in the 'Cats' 1-0, extra inning win. In the nightcap, Worley went 2-for-3, scored a run, stole two bases, and added a RBI as Chico State blanked the Otters 4-0.
Worley was back at it Saturday in the series-ending twin bill, racking up three hits and scoring three times as the Wildcats completed the sweep.
Worley is currently tied for the CCAA lead in runs scored (10), while ranking second in stolen bases (8) and third in on-base percentage (.583).
Worley and the Wildcats take a week off before resuming CCAA play February 21–22 in Arcata with a four-game series against Humboldt State.  Â
