In college sports, an underclassman frequently has to wait for a chance to crack the starting lineup, and when the opportunity arrives, be ready to execute. Chico State freshman setter Hailey Carter didn't see much playing time early in the season, but since becoming a starter October 13, has definitely made the most of her opportunity. Carter's solid performances against Sonoma State and Humboldt State helped Chico State sweep its weekend home stand, and have earned the Temecula native Wildcat of the Week honors.
Â
Carter racked up 88 assists over eight sets, posting an impressive average of 11 assists per set. She also contributed eight kills, 13 digs, two blocks, and two service aces as the Wildcats improved to 14-11 on the season and kept the team's postseason hopes alive.
