Give or take a couple tenths of a second, Jenavieve Turner hovered around the 15 second mark in the 100-meter hurdles during her first three meets of the season. But competing Saturday in the final home meet of her career, Turner succeeded in kicking it up an extra notch, not only winning the event at the Chico Distance Carnival and Twilight Invitational, but posting a personal best time that placed the Yreka product in the Chico State record books. Turner's dramatic leap in the hurdles makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
Turner, who owns two All-CCAA honors in the 400-meter hurdles entering the season, was unstoppable Saturday in the 100 hurdles. She started the day by posting the top time in the event's preliminaries, stopping the clock at 14.59 seconds. That turned out to be merely a teaser for what Turner delivered in the finals, winning the race with a PR time of 14.45 seconds.
Â
Turner's effort in the finals was also worthy of the Wildcat record book, as she moved into a tie with Alise Fix for the seventh-fastest 100 hurdles time in Chico State women's track & field history.

Turner and members of the Chico State women's track & field team will be back in action this weekend at the Woody Wilson Classic in Davis.
