Student-athletes sometimes use their playing season as an excuse to coast a little bit in the classroom. Sasha Peranteau kept the pedal to the metal.
Peranteau, who recently wrapped up his senior season with the men's soccer program, earned his third California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Fall All-Academic award in as many opportunities, the conference office announced Thursday.
The Wildcat of the Week is one of four Wildcats who earned the award all three falls they were eligible, joining teammate Dylan Wakefield, volleyball player Anna Baytosh, and women's soccer player Brooke Coelho.
To qualify for CCAA Fall All-Academic accolades, student-athletes must be of at least sophomore standing (including graduate students), have a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average or better, and have competed in a CCAA-sponsored sport during the just-concluded fall season.
Peranteau, also a 2016–17 Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award winner, is scheduled to graduate this spring with a degree in business marketing and minor in sustainability, with a sales certificate.
Peranteau played all over the pitch during his 48 career appearances with the Wildcats, excelling everywhere Head Coach Felipe Restrepo asked him to play, and helping lead Chico State to the postseason during his junior and senior seasons.
