Sherise Porchia spent the first two months of the 2015-16 season establishing herself as the Chico State women's basketball team's go-to player when it comes to assists. But last week the junior point guard displayed another facet to her game, ranking among the Wildcats' top individual scorers in games against Humboldt State and Cal Poly Pomona. The Boise, Idaho native has proven she is an offensive threat any time she handles the ball, and her recent scoring burst has earned Porchia Wildcat of the Week honors.

Porchia averaged 12 points a game for the 'Cats, hitting seven of her 11 field goal attempts (63.6 percent), knocking down 4-of-6 from behind the 3-point arc and netting 6-of-8 from the free throw line. Porchia also contributed nine rebounds and dished out six assists over the two games.

Thursday against Humboldt State, Porchia drained her first two treys of the season and finished with nine points to go along with four rebounds and three assists. She exhibited an ever hotter hand Saturday against Cal Poly Pomona, going 4-for-6 from the field – including two more 3-pointers – and led the Wildcats with a season-high 15 points while adding five rebounds and three assists.

Porchia is currently averaging 5.3 points a game for the 'Cats. Her 52 assists (4.0 average) rank fifth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Porchia and the Wildcats return home to Acker Gym this weekend to take on San Francisco State Friday and Sonoma State on Saturday. Both games will tip at 5:30. Â
