In a Chico State career that has seen a significant number of successes, Julianne Conrad turned in perhaps her most productive weekend ever as a Wildcat during the CCAA Track and Field Championships. The senior from Lake Forest personally accounted for 24 points – the most by a single athlete in the Oliver Hanf-led history of Chico State track and field – as the ’Cats took top conference honors for the second straight season. Conrad placed no lower than third in three of her four events at the CCAA Championships, and highlighted her weekend with NCAA Provisional Qualifying marks in the high jump and the triple jump. Conrad’s solid showing made her an easy choice for Wildcat of the Week.
Friday at the CCAA Championships, Conrad finished ninth in the pole vault competition, but still notched a personal best leap of 10-feet-02.5. That was just a taster of what was to come on Saturday – Conrad improved her NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark by winning the high jump with a leap of 5-feet-07.75 – the third-best distance in Chico State history.
She also posted the fourth-best effort on any Wildcat ever in the triple jump, finishing second at the CCAA Championships with a Provisional Qualifying mark of 38-feet-09.75. Conrad rounded out her amazing Saturday with a third place finish in the javelin, with a season-best heave of 118-feet-06.
