Chico State Athletics

It’s been almost 20 years since someone has been faster in a Chico State track uniform. Sophomore Isaiah Haywood clocked a 10.69 100 meters – the ninth fastest in Chico State history and fastest since 1994 – to highlight his strong day at the Chico Twilight Invitational Saturday. Haywood, the winner of the Wildcat of the Week award, was also a member of the 4x100 relay team that logged the 10th fastest time in school history and the fastest since 2001 and ran a personal-best 200-meter time of 21.68.

Damaris Greer, Jordan Alford-Helems, and Nick Sloggy joined Haywood to win the 4x100-meter event. Hem also won the 100 meters and finished second in the 200 meters. Oh yes, and he also anchored the team’s second-place 4x400-meter relay team.

Four events. Two wins. Two Chico State top 10s. Two runner-ups. Not a bad day’s work.
