Chico State softball pitcher Brooke Larsen carried quite the reputation with her when she joined the Wildcats last fall. The sophomore righthander was fresh off an All-America freshman year at Academy of Art, and the 'Cats were hoping she would experience more of the same success in 2019. So far, Larsen has lived up to her impressive credentials, as evidenced by two complete game victories in Chico State's series sweep of San Francisco State. Larsen's prowess in the pitcher's circle makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.Â
Larsen allowed just one run and six hits while striking out eight Gators batters in her 14 innings of work, improving her season record to 3-1 and helping the Wildcats (6-1 overall) grab a share of first place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).Â
Larsen gave up a run on five hits and fanned six in going the distance during Friday's doubleheader opener, won by the Wildcats 3-1. Sunday, a third inning single was all the offense San Francisco State could muster against Larsen, as she posted her first shutout of the year in Chico State's 7-0 victory.Â
Larsen also contributed with the bat Sunday, going 2-for-3 with a double and run batted in.Â
Larsen and the Wildcats are back in action this weekend, hosting Humboldt State at University Softball Field. The four-game series gets underway with a Friday doubleheader at noon, followed by a noon twin bill on Saturday.
