MARYSVILLE, Calif. — The Chico State golf team stood first through two rounds of the 2026 Wildcat Classic, totaling 539 (-37) at Peach Tree Golf and Country Club after a second-round 262 (-26). This marked the Wildcats' first tournament of the season, and they set program records for both the 18-hole team score and the 36-hole score. Vineet Vallamsetty led the individual standings at 133 (-11), following an opening 68 with a 65 in Round 2, while Ty Weaver and Sammy Bermant tied for third at 135 (-9) and Collin Statler tied for sixth at 136 (-8).

Vallamsetty sits first with an 11-under 133, following an opening 68 with a 7-under 65 in Round 2. Weaver tied for third at 9-under 135 after rounds of 69 and 66. Sammy Bermant, a freshman, is sitting in a tie for third after rounds of 70-65. Statler tied for sixth with an 8-under 136, matching Weaver's 6-under 66 in the second round. Statler's performance also marked his lowest round as a Wildcat.

The Wildcats will enter tomorrow's third and final round with an eight-shot lead as they look to capture the tournament title for the second consecutive year.
