MARYSVILLE, Calif. — The Chico State golf team finished first at the 2026 Wildcat Classic, totaling 822 (-42) over three rounds at Peach Tree Golf and Country Club. Vineet Vallamsetty placed first individually at 202 (-14), and Ty Weaver added a third-place finish at 205 (-11). The Wildcats set the program record for the lowest 18-hole and 54-hole scores in program history, surpassing their previous record set last year.

Vallamsetty finished first with a 14-under 202, posting rounds of 68, 65 and 69. Vallamsetty recorded his lowest 54-hole total, surpassing his previous record set at the Wildcat Classic the previous year (-13). Weaver placed third at 11-under 205, including a 66 in the second round. Weaver also recorded his lowest 54-hole total and had two top-five finishes last year. Collin Statler tied for seventh at 8-under 208 after opening with back-to-back under-par rounds of 70 and 66. Freshman, Sammy Bermant tied for 7th, highlighted by a second round of 65.

Chico State won the Wildcat Classic last year with a score of -41 and set a new record this year with a score of -42. The 'Cats next event is Friday, Sept. 25, at The Home Course in Dupont, Wash.
