GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Freshman Gabriella Fanucchi delivered a career-best performance to lead the Chico State women's golf team in the opening round of the Palm Valley Classic at Palm Valley Golf Club, as the Wildcats posted their lowest team score of the spring with a 310. Chico State sits in 17th place out of 27 teams following round one.

Fanucchi carded an even-par 72, the lowest round of her collegiate career, to sit tied for seventh in the 140-player field. She credited her success to her driver, noting her accuracy off the tee allowed her to hit nearly every fairway and set up strong wedge opportunities into the greens. Fanucchi also needed just 28 putts on the day and said her recent focus on putting "really showed" in the round. She ranks tied for sixth in the field in par-4 scoring, playing them at 1-under.

Junior Ariana Blagrove turned in her best round of the season with a 4-over 76 and is tied for 52nd. Blagrove recorded three of Chico State's seven birdies on the day, placing her among the top 10 in the field in birdies made, and went 36-40 across her round. She also ranks in the top 10 in par-5 scoring at 1-under.

Senior Brooke Pelletier posted a 78 (+6) and sits tied for 84th, while freshman Sienna Garcia carded an 84 (+12). Sophomore Hollyn Drennen rounded out the Wildcats' lineup with an 86 (+14).

Chico State will return to action tomorrow for the second and final round, with a 7 a.m. shotgun start.
