Two Outstanding Outings over Stanislaus State Earns Valdez FloCollege/CCAA Pitcher of the Week

| By:

CHICO, Calif. - Following a stellar weekend against the Warriors of Stanislaus State, Amelie Valdez has been named this week's CCAA/FloCollege Pitcher of the Week. The senior has been on pace for a career year in her final season with the Wildcats, stitching together strong weekends since early February.

Valdez pitched two complete games and allowed one earned run in 14 innings to lead the Wildcats to victories over Stanislaus State. Valdez scattered 16 hits, struck out 10, and walked four to improve her personal record to 8-5. Chico State won three of four close games in the series as all contests were decided by four runs or less.

In the series opener on Friday, the senior from Atwater, Calif. (which is near Turlock), pitched out of numerous jams and left 11 runners on base in a 4-1 Wildcats win. Valdez allowed eight hits, but didn't yield a run until the sixth. Chico State then helped out with four runs in the home-half of the sixth for the win. She struck out seven and walked two in the outing. In Saturday's game one, Valdez gave up eight more hits, but again stranded 10 baserunners to escape Stan State rallies. She got out of two bases-loaded jams in the second and sixth innings to preserve another 4-1 Chico State win.

Valdez ranks second in the CCAA with 80 strikeouts, behind only Marissa Quintero of Cal State East Bay. Valdez is also fourth in ERA (1.94), fifth in innings (94) and seventh in opposing batting average (.243). Her eight wins ties for seventh most in the league. This is Valdez's fourth CCAA Pitcher of the Week award in her career, first this season. She picked up this weekly honor twice as a freshman in 2023 and once at the start of the 2025 season. Click here to see the complete list of CCAA Softball weekly award winners.
