Wildcats Secure Second Straight Series Win

CHICO, Calif. – Chico State softball continued its surge in CCAA play, securing its second consecutive series win with three victories over Stanislaus State. After defensive struggles in Friday's second game, the Wildcats responded with a dominant showing Saturday, allowing just one run across 14 innings.

Amelie Valdez and Bella Tavares led the way in the circle, each throwing complete games on day two of the series. The duo combined for six strikeouts while keeping the Warriors' offense in check throughout both contests.

Senior Brianna Swihart continued her outstanding stretch at the plate, extending her hitting streak to 10 games with 17 hits during that span. She now leads the Wildcats with a .377 batting average, along with a career-high 10 doubles, and is just one hit shy of her single-season best.

Brianna Swihart went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, while Hannah Levy, Lucy Sherburne and Swihart each recorded RBIs. Levy led the way with two runs batted in.

Despite a lone defensive miscue, Chico State held the Warriors to just one run. Amelie Valdez earned her second win of the series and third straight victory, continuing her strong senior campaign with a 1.94 ERA.

The Wildcats' defense came up clutch in key moments, escaping two bases-loaded situations and stranding 10 Warriors on base.

Bella Tavares closed out the series with a complete-game shutout, earning her fourth win of the season and second straight complete-game performance. She struck out three and kept the Warriors off the scoreboard.

Chico State jumped ahead early with a three-run lead, highlighted by a home run from Ali Lewis—her team-leading second of the season.
