CHICO, Calif. – Chico State standouts Brayden McLaughlin and Trey Suffredini have been named to the 2024–25 Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, as announced Tuesday by College Sports Communicators (CSC).

The Academic All-District honor recognizes student-athletes for excellence in both academics and athletics. To qualify, nominees must carry a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and meet sport-specific performance criteria—ranking among the top 50 in their region in either cross country or a single track & field event.

McLaughlin, currently pursuing a master's degree in Kinesiology, earns Academic All-District honors for the second time in his career. A consistent force across seasons, he captured All-West Region recognition in cross country for the fourth straight year. On the track, he added All-West Region honors in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters and successfully defended his CCAA title in the 5,000 meters. Over his decorated career, McLaughlin has earned one All-America honor, eight All-West Region accolades, six All-CCAA selections, and three conference championships. He was also named both CCAA Runner of the Year and Newcomer of the Year after winning the 2021 conference title.

Suffredini, a junior majoring in Environmental Science, enjoyed a breakout season in 2024. The Castiac native teamed with Brody Staley, Vincent Rinaldi, and Quincy Patton to earn second-team All-America and All-West Region honors in the 4x400-meter relay. Their thrilling victory in the event's final race helped secure the Wildcats' team title at the CCAA Championships. Individually, Suffredini also captured the conference title in the 400 meters.

McLaughlin's exemplary performance on and off the track has earned him a spot as a finalist for CSC Academic All-America, with winners to be announced in July.
