Chico State Softball Finds Four Wildcats on All-District Academic List

| By:
CHICO, Calif. – The Chico State Softball team may have put away the bats last month, but four Wildcats have had their names recognized for their on-and-off-field efforts by the CSC, earning All-District Academic honors.

Kennedy Gustin, Bella Tavares, Aiyana Curry, and Gracie Dunning are the four names that have been put in the work in the classroom, and they are all first-time honorees.

A sociology major, Bella Tavares was the sole pitcher to make the list with a 2.41 ERA and seven wins in the circle throughout her first season with the Wildcats, registering a no-hitter against Academy of Art in February.

Aiyana Curry, majoring in Journalism, was the offensive leader for the Wildcats this season with a .338 batting average in her first season with the Wildcats, tallying 42 RBIs with seven home runs. Public health major Kennedy Gustin started all 46 games, batting .311 at the plate and making incredible plays at second base with 50 hits and 11 RBIs. Gracie Dunning was impressive at the plate this season, battling for a .266 average with 13 RBIs and three home runs; the exercise physiology major led the team in walks with 15.

Curry and Gustin were listed on the All-CCAA Second Team list after their commendable first seasons in Chico.
