CARSON, Calif. – It was a challenging day on the diamond for Chico State, as the Wildcats dropped both games of Thursday's doubleheader against Cal State Dominguez Hills. A potent offensive showing from the Toros, combined with defensive miscues in game two, proved too much for the Wildcats to overcome.
With the losses, Chico State falls to 9-13 in CCAA play and slips to sixth in the conference standings. The top five teams will advance to the 2026 CCAA Tournament at the conclusion of the regular season.
Game 1: Chico State 1, CSUDH 9 (5 inn.)
In the opener, the Wildcats looked to establish momentum early but struggled to generate consistent contact at the plate. Meanwhile, the Toros capitalized offensively, pulling away to secure a run-rule victory in five innings.
Senior Hannah Levy accounted for Chico State's lone run, delivering an RBI single to right field.
Game 2: Chico State 5, CSUDH 9
Chico State showed more life offensively in the second game, but five defensive errors opened the door for the Toros to take control.
Levy continued her strong day at the plate with two RBIs, while Itzell De Los Rios launched a two-run home run over the center field fence. Kennedy Gustin and Mia Brady each recorded multi-hit performances, with Brady adding the Wildcats' final RBI.
The Wildcats will wrap up their final Southern California road trip Friday, with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. at Toro Diamond.
