CHICO, Calif. - The Wildcats concluded their final home invitational of the season on Saturday at University Stadium, making great strides at the annual Chico Invitational.
Highlighting the weekend in the first event was Sage Coyle, throwing for the first-ever recorded 50-meter throw by a Chico State women's thrower in her first attempt on Friday. The senior broke her personal record, setting a new program best of 51.78m, breaking the previous record set in 2019.
Following suit, Angelina Escobar recorded her personal best and broke the 50-meter barrier with a throw of 50.09m.
Tianna Thompson had a solid showing on Saturday, recording new personal bests in the 100m (12.57), finishing in second place, and the 200m (25.70).
Early on Saturday, Andrea Villata took home the gold in the javelin with a mark of 40.80m, and teammate Jessi Rae Flynn rounded out the top three with a personal best of 37.21m.
Natalie Muse had an impressive showing on Saturday, recording new personal bests in multiple events: shot put (9.85m), 100m (12.66), 100m hurdles (14.77), and most impressively, the win in the long jump with a mark of 5.64m.
Sophomore Janey Rubio was a sight to behold in the pole vault, recording a new personal best after clearing the 3.67m mark.
Allie Goetz (1.60m) took home the top spot in the high jump, fellow jumper Carly Harriman taking third with a mark of 1.55m.
In the 3000m steeplechase, long Wildcat runner Zoe Aitken recorded a personal best and won the event at 11:52.19.
Mia Beltran finished second in the 400m hurdles with a quick time of 1:08.15.
Sienna Bianchi has continued to get faster as the season continues, winning the 1500m with 4:31.17, coming ahead of teammates Della Molina (4:32.57) and Iresh Molina (4:33.65).
In the 800m, Sidney Garcia finished in a strong second-place spot with a personal best of 2:14.46, while teammate Catherine McGuire earned a new personal fastest in fourth place and a time of 2:16.50.
Danielle Bacon took the top of the podium in the 400m race with a time of 56.86, just shy of her personal best.
The Wildcats will have a quick turnaround as they head to southern California for one of the strongest meets in the country, Bryan Clay, hosted by APU. They will compete at a few other meets, such as the Leopard Invitational at La Verne, the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State, and the Black and Gold Invite at Butte College.
