ARCATA, Calif. - Chico State women's track and field traveled to our Northernmost CCAA competitor on the coast of Humboldt County for the Cal Poly Humboldt Invitational.
The Wildcats took home some new personal and season bests amongst the tall redwoods surrounding the stadium.
Josie Peterson improved on her provisional mark earlier this season, throwing in the javelin event for a mark of 42.57m. She currently ranks No.23 in the event across NCAA DII, improving her first provo mark by thirty-eight centimeters. Teammate Andrea Villalta threw for a new personal best with a throw of 38.51m.
Freshman Miranda Seitz took second in the pole vault with a new personal best of 3.46m, besting her last mark at the Wildcat Invite of 3.36m.
Kendra Pearson was on the cusp of a provisional mark performance in the high jump with a top-place finish and season's best jump of 1.63m. She narrowly missed the provisional mark of 1.68m, currently ranked 42nd in DII.
Angelina Escobar took the gold in the shot put with a new personal best of 11.73m, and Breanna Lawrence came in second with a personal best of 11.14m. Annabelle Low threw for a new personal best of 9.80m; teammate Natalie Muse threw for a new personal record of 9.63m.
Escobar took home the gold in two more events, recording a mark of 42.59m in the discus and a 47.24m toss in the hammer. Sage Coyle finished second in the hammer throw, recording a 45.29m result.
Muse took second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15 seconds flat, continuing onto a second-place finish in the 200m of 26.02.
Kaitlyn Gonzales clocked a second-place time of 59.60, a season's best for the senior sprinter.
The 4x100m squad of Breah Bell, Tianna Thompson, Kaitlyn Gonzales, and Madi Monroe claimed a second-place finish with a time of 48.84.
Another second-place finish was claimed by the 4x400m team of Kaitlyn Gonzales, Tianna Thompson, Madison Kalberer, and Danielle Bacon combined for a time of 4:00.85.
