CHICO, Calif. – The Chico State men's basketball team used a dominant defensive performance and a huge night from its bench to cruise past Pacific Union 68–43 on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, at Acker Gym. With the non-conference win, the Wildcats improved to 3–4 on the season.
How it happened
Chico State controlled the game from the start, holding Pacific Union scoreless for the first three minutes and limiting the Pioneers to just four made field goals in the opening half. The Wildcats' pressure forced 14 first-half turnovers, fueling a 36–14 halftime lead that included 18 points in the paint, 13 points off turnovers, and six fast-break points.
While the offense took a bit to settle in, Chris Holley, Isaiah Brewington, and Braddock Kjellesvig sparked multiple scoring stretches, and Chico dominated the glass with an 11–5 offensive rebound edge before halftime.
In the second half, the Wildcats' depth took over. Chico's bench poured in 25 more points, and the defense continued to smother Pacific Union, collecting six steals and two blocks while never allowing the lead to dip below 16. The Wildcats pushed the advantage to as many as 28 before closing out the 25-point victory.
