’Cats quintet earn 2023 Academic All-District honors

Chico State softball well represented on 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team

As it demonstrated throughout the 2023 campaign and during an exciting postseason run at the California College Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament, the Chico State softball team knows that hard work brings great results. For five players, the same holds true for their efforts in the classroom, as Wildcats Anastacia Alba, Tayler Berens, Rachael Bles, Grace Stover and Mari Takeda Bajan were honored Tuesday by the College Sports Communicators (CSC; formerly CoSIDA) by being named to the organization's 2023 Academic All-District Softball Team.

The CSC Academic All-District Team spotlights the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions—NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

All five Wildcats are receiving their first CSC Academic All-District award. Alba, Berens, Bles, and Stover each earned 2021–22 CCAA All-Academic honors, with Berens also winning the Division II Athletic Directors Association (D2ADA) Academic Achievement Award in 2021–22.

The Wildcat quintet now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with First-, Second-, and Third-Team honorees announced June 6.
