CHICO, Calif. – Four members of the Chico State softball program earned recognition on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for their accomplishments both on the field and in the classroom.

Aiyana Curry, Kennedy Gustin, Bella Tavares and Italia Abrenica each received the academic honor following strong performances throughout the 2026 season.

The CSC Academic All-District® Softball Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic achievements. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately honors student-athletes across NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA competition.

Bella Tavares and Kennedy Gustin both earned repeat CSC Academic All-District recognition after also receiving the honor last season. The duo additionally received All-CCAA Honorable Mention recognition following the 2026 campaign.

Tavares, a sociology major, played a key role in Chico State's pitching staff, posting a 3.08 ERA across 24 appearances in the circle. She made 22 starts, recording nine complete games and six victories.

The lone senior among the honorees, Kennedy Gustin capped her Chico State career as an important contributor both offensively and defensively. The public health major batted .288 with 36 hits and six RBIs while starting every game for the Wildcats this season. Across her two years with the program, Gustin started all 90 games she appeared in.

Aiyana Curry earned her second consecutive CSC Academic All-District honor following another strong season in the classroom and on the field. The journalism major ranked third on the team offensively with a .282 batting average, recording 31 hits and 17 RBIs.

Italia Abrenica made her first appearance on the Academic All-District Team after a strong season in the Wildcats' infield. She totaled 16 hits and six RBIs while starting 41 of the 42 games she played.
