The highlights were many Friday, and as a result the confidence level of the Chico State women's track & field team remains sky-high as the Wildcats wrapped up their third day of competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa. The 'Cats delivered another set of memorable performances that included a strong batch of personal best efforts and a NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark for Nadia Torkman, who also moved up three notches on the Chico State all-time high jump Top 10 list.

The Chico State 4x100-meter relay team of Torkman, Mckenzie Blair, Chloe Taylor, and Savannah Bailey began Friday's final day action at the Bryan Clay Invitational in extremely positive fashion, posting a season-best time of 48.31 seconds, finishing 14th overall.

Chloe Taylor was the top Wildcat finisher in the 400-meter hurdles, placing third while recording a time of 1:06.41. Alexis Hinojosa earned a personal best time in the event at 1:09.42, while also posting the best Wildcat time in the 100-meter hurdles, stopping the clock at 15.32 seconds. Taylor recorded a time of 15.52 seconds, while Talyn Steffens produced a season-best effort in the event at 18.33 seconds.

Savannah Bailey and Taylor Lee delivered solid efforts in the 400-meter dash. Bailey finished 25th out of 90 runners with a personal best time of 56.35 seconds, while Lee chalked up a PR time of 57.98 seconds on the way to a 60th place finish.

Bailey placed 46th in the Bryan Clay Invitational's 200-meter dash, securing a time of 25.07 seconds.

Running in the 100-meter dash, Blair finished third in her heat, fashioning a time of 12.61 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, she recorded a personal best time of 26.10 seconds.

Bailey, Taylor, Danielle Bacon, and Kaitlyn Gonzales combined to post a time of 3:59.16 in the 400-meter relay, good for 17th place overall.

The running events concluded Friday evening with the 1,500-meter run. Competing with over 130 other runners, Katie Hawley pegged a PR time of 4:34.75 in the 1,500-meter Open A grouping. In the 1,500-meter Open B competition, Gracie Dupuis finished 14th overall with a personal best time of 4:45.57, while Alexi Steinmaus placed 22nd with a PR time of 4:46.88.

In the Bryan Clay Invitational's field events, Torkman tied for ninth in the high jump Invitational grouping with a height of 1.68 meters. The personal best mark not only earned Torkman the NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark, it moved her into a tie for sixth place on Chico State's all-time high jump Top 10 list.

Ashley Brown eclipsed her previous best mark in the javelin by more than three meters. Her eighth place throw of 40.70 meters Friday also placed Brown in the Chico State record books with the ninth-longest javelin throw in the program's history.

Carissa Rodriguez placed second in the pole vault Open B competition, clearing the bar with a personal best height of 3.51 meters. Samantha Brackett finished sixth at 3.36 meters. In the pole vault Invitational, Amy Bell finished third with a height of 3.81 meters. One other pole vault grouping, the Open A, saw Lara Condosta tie for seventh place at 3.51 meters.

Alana Ochoa was the top Wildcat finisher in the discus, placing 27th with a heave of 38.22 meters. Ava Cavallaro came up just short of a PR while finishing 24th in the hammer throw (44.58 meters), and posted a distance of 11.60 meters en route to a 35th place finish in the shot put.

Natalie Muse registered 10.78 meters competing in the Bryan Clay Invitational's triple jump. Talyn Steffens posted a mark of 4.50 meters in the long jump.

Chico State completes its Southern California sojourn Saturday, competing in the Long Beach Invitational at Long Beach State's Jack Rose Track. The Wildcats will take part in a variety of sprint, hurdle, relay, and field events.
