Chico State Shows Early Progress to Home Crowd at Wildcat Invitational

CHICO, Calif. – The Chico State women's track & field team showcased its early-season progress in front of a home crowd this weekend, competing at the Wildcat Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Several Wildcats turned in strong performances, highlighted by multiple personal bests across the meet.


Notable Highlights

  • Teresa Vasconcellos clocked a personal best of 12.07 in the 100 meters, taking first in the prelims and repeating the victory in the finals with a 12.09Madi Monroe (12.20)Crystal Rosales (12.21) and Tianna Thompson (12.24)also recorded personal bests in the event on their way to qualifying for the finals alongside Vasconcellos.

  • Tianna Thompson (25.05) and Bella Morales (25.52) both posted personal-best times in the 200 meters.

  • Junior Emma Gaddy won the 400 meters with a season-best 55.77, while teammate Destin Armstrong also recorded a personal best with a 57.67.

  • Sienna Bianchi captured the 800 meters title with a time of 2:17.13, with teammates Sidney Garcia and Kaya Scuba finishing close behind.

  • Bianchi added a second event victory in the 1500 meters, clocking 4:36.06. Freshman Paulina Martins finished second in her first track season with the Wildcats, while Megan Malloy placed third with a personal best of 4:38.50.

  • Yanise Harris won the 100-meter hurdles finals, after recording a personal best of 14.70 in the prelims. Freshman Jordin McDowell also posted a personal best in the prelims with a 14.65.

  • In the 400-meter hurdlesSavannah Sawyer took first place with a personal-best 1:04.50 in just the third meet of her collegiate career.

  • The Wildcats' lone competitor in the 3000-meter steeplechaseOlivia Beschorner, claimed the event win with a time of 11:15.21.

  • Freshman Laila Florvilus competed in her first meet with Chico State and won the high jump, clearing 1.65 meters.

  • Talynn Schroeder finished first in the long jump with a mark of 5.03 meters, narrowly missing a personal best while showing strong promise for the rest of the season.

  • Saryah Harris-Davis placed second in the discus with a throw of 36.51 meters, while teammate Daeja Downingfinished third with a personal-best 35.27 meters.
