CHICO, Calif. – As Chico State prepares to send a group of athletes to Emporia, Kansas for the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, eight Wildcats have earned All-West Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Wildcats recognized include Janey Rubio, Iresh Molina, Della Molina, Paulina Martins, Megan Malloy, Charlie Ham, Laila Florvilus and Olivia Beschorner.
Janey Rubio earned All-West Region honors in the pole vault after a career-best clearance of 4.02 meters at the Franson Last Chance meet. The mark vaulted Rubio to the top of the West Region rankings and secured her place at the NCAA Championships. She becomes Chico State's first field athlete and pole vaulter to qualify for nationals since 2022.
Iresh Molina earned All-West Region recognition in both the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters, ranking first in the West Region in the 10,000 and second in the 5,000. Her standout season included a 10,000-meter time that ranked 14 seconds faster than the next closest regional competitor.
Della Molina also received honors in both distance events, leading the region in the 5,000 meters while ranking third in the 10,000 meters. Her time of 16:16.87 at the Bryan Clay Invitational elevated her among the nation's top competitors and secured her return to the NCAA Championships.
Megan Malloy collected her first All-West Region honor after recording the fourth-fastest time in the region in the 10,000 meters with a 34:34.54 at the Stanford Invitational. She will make her NCAA Championships debut alongside the Molina twins.
Freshman Paulina Martins earned All-West Region honors in the 5,000 meters following a stellar 16:26.19 performance at the APU Franson Last Chance meet. Martins posted the fastest 5,000-meter time by a freshman in NCAA Division II this season and secured a national qualifying spot in her first collegiate campaign.
Charlie Ham earned All-West Region recognition in the pole vault after clearing 3.85 meters earlier this season at the Johnny Mathis Track & Field Meet. In her first season with Chico State, Ham ranked third in the West Region and 33rd nationally.
In her debut season with Chico State track & field, Laila Florvilus earned All-West Region honors in the high jump after finishing fifth in the region. Her season-best clearance of 1.66 meters came during the heptathlon at the CCAA Championships, where she still managed a third-place finish in the individual event despite limited collegiate experience in the multi-event competition.
Rounding out the honorees is Olivia Beschorner, who finished second in the West Region in the 3000-meter steeplechase after running a 10:38.00 at the APU Franson Last Chance meet. Beschorner also earned a silver medal at the CCAA Championships, capping an impressive sophomore season.
