One of the most important days of the Chico State Athletics calendar is here: Giving Day 2022. Since the very beginning, the support of our Wildcat Family has been the special sauce that sets us apart from the competition. Today, we need that support more than ever to remain the premiere NCAA Division II Athletic Department on the West Coast while enhancing the experience our student-athletes have at Chico State.
Â
Our student-athletes have never been stronger, never been healthier, and never been more prepared to compete for championships thanks to our state-of-the-art
strength and conditioning center and Coach Colin Coughenour. Our student-athletes have never been better leaders, better prepared to enter the workforce, or more educated about their mental health thanks to our cutting-edge
'CatsSkills program. Our student-athletes have never been more well cared for when it comes to injuries and injury prevention thanks to the best
athletic training staff in the West. We used our time and resources to get better in all three areas during our time away from competition due to COVID.
Â
None of it would be possible without the financial support of our Wildcat Family.
Â
Our student-athletes have never been more successful. Already in 2021-22, six squads have advanced to the postseason, highlighted by CCAA and West Regional Men's Cross Country championships and the men's basketball team's highest-ever national ranking and first No. 1 regional ranking. With those additions, the Wildcats have now won 80 CCAA titles, 37 West Region titles, and 16 NCAA Championships since joining the CCAA—the nation's premiere NCAA Division II conference— in 1998.
Â
They also continue to excel academically and contribute in the community. During this academic year, our student-athletes have generated video companions aimed at educating all fellow of their fellow Wildcats about available mental health resources as part of their
Scratch the Stigma initiative, which will be re-launching in March. And they've excelled in the classroom, combining for 27 perfect 4.0 GPAs, while 217—more than two-thirds of them—earned GPAs of 3.0 or higher.
Â
Your gift to 'CatsSkills, Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning, the Wildcat Athletic Fund (which provides for the department's greatest overall needs), and/or your favorite team(s), gets us a crucial step closer to the next special moment that we will all be a part of as members of the Wildcat Family. Together we go farther. Thank you for your support!
