| By:

RICHMOND, Calif. – The Chico State women's golf team completed play at the Big Freeze Invitational at Richmond Golf Club, finishing ninth in the 10-team field with a two-round total of 658 after posting identical rounds of 329 on both days.

Chico State found success on the par 3s, finishing among the top five teams in the field and playing them at 4-over par across the two rounds. Pelletier, Garcia and Blagrove ranked inside the top 20 individually in par-3 scoring.

Senior Brooke Pelletier led the Wildcats, carding rounds of 77 (+5) and 81 (+9) to finish tied for 27th. Head coach Heather Fegley-Birchmier highlighted Pelletier's second round, noting that she did not record anything worse than a bogey and stayed committed to her process throughout the round.

Freshman Sienna Garcia turned in rounds of 82 (+10) and 83 (+11) to finish tied for 38th, marking the best tournament finish of her collegiate career. Garcia was even through her first nine holes in the final round after opening with a bogey and played the par 5s at 2-under par for the tournament, ranking 11th in the field.

Junior Ariana Blagrove improved in the second round, following an opening 86 (+14) with a 79 (+7) to also finish tied for 38th. Blagrove credited her accuracy off the tee as the key to her final round, allowing her to create more scoring opportunities.

Freshman Gabriella Fanucchi posted rounds of 84 and 86 to place 49th, while sophomore Hollyn Drennen carded rounds of 88 and 86 to finish 52nd.

Point Loma captured the team title at 19-over par, while Kim Penzold of Menlo earned medalist honors at 1-under par.

The Wildcats will return to action April 3–4 at the Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Arizona.
