’Cats post a 10-spot for the first time since 1997

Eight different Wildcats score, including five from off the bench

Eight different players scored, including five from off the bench, as the Chico State women's soccer team rolled to a 10-0 win against Holy Names University Monday afternoon at University Soccer Stadium. The 10 goals is the most scored by the team since September 13, 1997, against Concordia University Irvine, and one shy of the school record of 11, set in 1990 and matched in 1993.

Substitutes Emily Billena and Amber Nunes scored two goals apiece. Starter Camille Lidster registered a goal and two assists. Summer Baron, Kaitlin Carlton and Kelli Litchfield finished with a goal and an assist apiece. Susanna Garcia and Madi Wilson tallied a goal each and Natalie Mendoza, Kylie Rolling, Sarah Speros, Madison Noll, Alexi Vonsolos and Taylor Russell an assist each.

The Wildcats are now 3-1-0. Holy Names fell to 0-3-0. Their 36 shots marked their most in a match since they ripped off 41 tries in a 4-0 home victory against Cal State Monterey Bay on September 10, 2006. Twenty of those shots were on target and two hit the post.

Baron broke the seal 5:59 into the match, played in behind the Hawks' defense on a delivery from Lidster just beyond midfield. It was the second goal of the season for the true freshman.

Garcia scored for the fourth consecutive match to start this season to make it 2-0, beating a defender off the dribble and then the keeper 1-on-1. Her four goals lead the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Lidster made it 3-0 in the 11th minute before Billena scored her first collegiate goal and her first of two Monday to make it 4-0 at the half.

Billena's goal started a streak of seven straight scored by Chico State freshmen (and eight in the match). Her score in the 60th minute opened the second half scoring. Litchfield ('63), Wilson ('65), Carlton ('78) and Nunes ('85 and '88) followed suit.

Chico State freshman goalkeeper Emma Hofmann faced only two shots and saved them both for her second shutout in four matches.

The Wildcats will be back in action Thursday on the road at Dominican before returning home to face Fresno Pacific on Saturday.
