Saturday’s women’s basketball game cancelled

Sonoma State forfeits due to confirmed COVID-19 cases

12/9/2021 3:22:00 PM

The Chico State women's basketball team's California Collegiate Athletic Association game against Sonoma State has been cancelled due to confirmed COVID-19 positive cases among the Sonoma State team's athletes. The game will not be rescheduled. The men's game will be played as scheduled at 7:30 p.m.

Per conference regulations, the game will be considered a conference win for Chico State and a conference loss for the Seawolves. Per NCAA guidelines, the game will be considered a no-contest and will not be factored into either team's overall record.

Chico State, therefore, remains at 4-4 overall but moves to 2-2 in conference play.

The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, December 18, at home against Humboldt State. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Chico State ranks fourth among the 12 CCAA teams in scoring, averaging 68.3 points a game. The Wildcats are fifth in the conference in defense, holding opponents to 62 points a contest. Only one of the 'Cats' eight games so far this season has seen the opposition score more than 68 points.
