Saves Abound in Scoreless Draw

Freshman goalkeeper Emma Hofmann earns third shutout of season

A wonderfully-contested women's soccer match between Chico State and Cal State San Marcos finished in a scoreless draw Sunday at University Soccer Stadium. Cougars goalkeeper Allison Marcure matched the Cal State San Marcos single-match record with 10 saves, denying the Wildcats time and time again. Her counterpart, Chico State's Emma Hofmann, made four saves in route to her third shutout of the season.

The Wildcats are now 5-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action. Cal State San Marcos moved to 4-0-2 overall and 0-0-2 in the CCAA.

Chico State was on the attack for much of the day, earning a 23-12 advantage in shots, 10-4 edge in shots on goal, and 13-3 lead in corner kicks. Those totals were all the most allowed by Cal State San Marcos thus far this season. Camille Lidster led the way with five shots and Sarah Emigh managed a trio.

The Wildcats will now be on the road for their next three matches before returning home to face Stanislaus State on October 17.
