Wildcats shutout in Seaside

Fall for just the second time all season; blanked for the first time

SEASIDE—The Chico State women's soccer team sported the California Collegiate Athletic Association's hottest offense and had not surrendered more than two goals in any match heading into Friday night's match at Cal State Monterey. The host Otters had other ideas, handing the Wildcats their first shutout of the season and beating them 3-0 in Seaside.

Chico State slipped to 5-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association while Cal State Monterey Bay moved to 4-2-3 and 1-1-1. The Wildcats will look to get back into the win column Sunday at 11 a.m. at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The Wildcats mustered only two shots in the opening stanza and trailed 1-0 at intermission. Their planned second-half comeback was slow to materialize, and the Otters doubled their advantage 8:06 in before the Wildcats could even get off their first shot of the half. Cal State Monterey Bay finished its scoring with a free kick inside the final minute.
