Women's track & field standouts Kylie McCloskey and Molly Mulay receive senior salutes

7/15/2020 4:46:00 PM

As a follow-up to last week's salute to Chico State baseball's departing seniors, we pay tribute this week to the 10 Chico State women's track & field seniors who are saying goodbye to the program. Today we shine the spotlight on jumper/sprinter Kylie McCloskey and distance runner Molly Mulay. Wildcat women's track & field head coach Robert Nooney shares his thoughts on Kylie's contribution to the program, while women's cross country head coach and women's track & field distance coach Gary Towne provides the praise for Molly.

KYLIE McCLOSKEY

Sprints / Hurdles

“Kylie has an incredible story. She was an exchange student from Northern Arizona and fell in love with Chico. So much so, she decided to stick around and become a bona fide Wildcat! She worked hard and improved every year. She kept a smile on her face regardless of the workload outside of practice, or the difficult workout on the track, which was just about every day!”

- Women's track & field head coach Robert Nooney

MOLLY MULAY

1,500m / 5,000m / 10,000m

"Molly transferred to Chico from Monterey Bay while joining her longtime boyfriend Wyatt Baxter on our team. Molly made quick improvements and appeared ready for big things, but then injury struck. It took us a while to diagnose the condition that she was dealing with, and once we did, Molly needed surgery to have it repaired. The surgery went well, but just as she was returning to health and fitness, COVID struck and Molly missed her final track and cross country seasons due to the shutdown. On a much brighter note, Molly is an absolute Rockstar in the classroom, and was a huge part of our two GPA belts. She definitely has a lot to look forward to as she moves on to the ‘real world’.”
