Wildcats relay teams in sync at Mike Fanelli and Stanford meets

Chico State wins distance medley, while 4x1 and 4x4 teams both enter all-time top 10

While individual results normally dominate the headlines in track & field, there are times when team efforts take center stage. Such was the case Saturday for the Chico State women's track & field team, as four Wildcat runners combined to win the distance medley relay during the final day of the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in Hayward, while the 'Cats' 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams both delivered record book-worthy performances to wrap up action at the Stanford Invitational.

The Wildcat quartet of Jordyn Dorsey, Isabella Moyer, Sydney Proiette, and Lyndsey Settle finished ninth in the Stanford Invitational's 4x100-meter relay, and their time of 47.65 seconds matched the ninth-fastest 4x1 effort in the program's history.

Later in the afternoon, competing in a Division I-heavy field, Sheena Blackwell, Claire Chappell, Sydney Proiette, and Savannah Bailey came in 14th in the 4x400-meter relay. Their impressive time of 3:51.97 placed the team at No. 9 in Chico State's all-time 4x4 list.

In other Stanford Invitational action, Olivia Abbott placed fifth in the triple jump, posting a season-best leap of 10.97 meters. Wildcat teammate Jessica Lee was sixth with a mark of 10.95 meters.

Taylor Nevitt enjoyed a productive day in Stanford, launching a season-best throw of 43.69 meters in the hammer, followed by a 15th place showing in the discus at 38.70 meters. Alana Ochoa placed 13th in the discus with a heave of 38.92 meters.

At the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, Chico State successfully defended its title in the distance medley relay. With Nicole Anthony tackling the 1,200-meter leg, Elyssa Schall the 400-meter leg, Katie Hawley the 800-meter leg, and Alexandria Tucker running the 1,600-meter leg, the Wildcats notched a winning time of 12:09.01.

Earlier in the day, Taylor Bailey posted a time of 2:25.31 in the 800-meter run. Desirae Jones finished 13th in the 1-mile run, stopping the clock at 5:17.79. Sophia Pearson placed 20th in the 1-mile with a time of 5:35.78.

The Chico State women's track & field team returns to the friendly confines of University Stadium next Saturday for their final home meet of the regular season, as the Wildcats host the Chico State Distance Carnival and Twilight Invitational.
