Wildcats Score Early Positives in Shasta

REDDING, Calif. – Chico State women's track & field traveled up the road to Redding to take part in the Cody B Invite, accumulating more reps as they prepare for the bulk of the spring season. The Wildcats continued to show improvement in their second meet of the season, with newcomers finding strong times early into their careers.

Top Performances
  • Savannah Sawyer took the top spot in the 100 meter as the solo freshman from the Wildcats squad to take part. Clocking a time of 12.33, Sawyer came in first ahead of teammates Bella Morales (12.37) and Tianna Thompson (12.38). 
  • Madi Monroe recorded a new personal best of 25.69 in the 200m and finished ahead of the field. 
  • In her second meet with the Wildcats, Emma Gaddy claimed a top spot finish in the 400m, recording a season best time of 56.53.
  • Yanise Harris found success in the 100m hurdles, taking first place with a 15.21 clocked finish. Earlier in the day, Harris recorded a personal best in the 100m with a time of 12.61. 
  • Saryah Harris-Davis claimed the top spot in the shot put (11.41m) and the discus (37.65m) in her second meet with the Wildcats. Teammate Daeja Downing found two new personal bests in both events with a shot put finish of 10.28m and a 34.22m toss in the discus.
  • Sage Coyle took first place in the hammer with a best attempt of 42.77m.
  • Downing claimed the second place finish in the javelin with a throw of 32.39m, adding to her strong day in Redding.
  • Chico State swept the relay events, with the 4x100m squad consisting of Tianna Thompson, Madi Monroe, Teresa Vasconcellos and Crystal Rosales finished ahead of the 'B' squad in 47.35. In the 4x400m relay, Emma Gaddy, Desin Armstrong, Savannah Sawyer and Jordin McDowell crossed the finish ahead of the other two squad, with a time of 3:58.98.
The Wildcats will return back to their home track for the Wildcat Invitational at University Stadium starting Friday, March 13th.
