Another series win by Wildcats would net Taylor 500th victory

Chico State at Cal State Dominguez Hills for three-game series this weekend

What has the makings of a special season for the Chico State baseball team has a chance to include a special milestone this weekend.

The Wildcats are off to a 21-5 start, including 14-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. They'll take a five-game lead in the CCAA's North Division into a three-game series at Cal State Dominguez Hills this weekend in Carson.

If the Wildcats can win the series, something they've done in each of the first four weekends of conference play, Head Coach Dave Taylor will earn his 500th collegiate victory in the process. Following two-year stops at Wyoming and Cal State L.A., Taylor is in his 11th season as Chico State's head coach and boasts a record of 498-291-1.

The Wildcats will play at doubleheader Saturday at noon, and complete the series with a single game Sunday at 11 a.m.

All three games will be broadcast locally on AM-1290 KPAY. Links to an audio stream of Chico State's hometown call, live stats, and Cal State Dominguez Hills' pay-to-view video stream are available at www.chicowildcats.com in the calendar section and baseball schedule page.

The Wildcats have been consistently climbing the nation rankings on the strength of their pitching, defense, and speed. They are currently ranked No. 2 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association, No. 3 by Perfect Game USA, No. 10 by D2 Baseball News, and No. 11 by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. They lead the nation with a fielding percentage of .988, rank third with a team ERA of 2.43, and sixth with 55 stolen bases.

Cal State Dominguez Hills is 6-19 overall and in fifth place in the CCAA South Division standings at 4-11.
