ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - Chico State's pitching staff was recognized among the conference's best on Wednesday as four Wildcats earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors, the conference office announced.
Senior Rocco Borrelli and junior Manny Lopez were named First Team All-CCAA selections, while freshman Jakob Poole earned Second Team honors and freshman Jack Tews was selected as an honorable mention.
The group anchored Chico State's success on the mound throughout conference play, combining frontline production in the starting rotation with reliable, high-leverage relief work.
Borrelli delivered one of the top starting campaigns in the CCAA, starting all eight of his conference appearances and finishing with five wins—second most in the league. He ranked fifth in ERA (4.09), opposing batting average (.254), and innings pitched (44.0), while adding 34 strikeouts. His consistency was highlighted by five quality starts, routinely pitching deep into games and setting the tone for the Wildcats.
Out of the bullpen, Lopez emerged as Chico State's most dependable late-inning option. The right-hander made 11 conference appearances, going 1-1 with a save across 18.1 innings. He allowed just three earned runs while striking out 12 and walking six. Lopez repeatedly delivered in key situations, including appearances in a combined shutout effort against Cal State Dominguez Hills and extra-inning work in a road victory at Cal State East Bay , showcasing his ability to navigate high-pressure moments.
Poole made an immediate impact in his first collegiate season, earning Second Team recognition after posting a 3.86 ERA in conference play—the fourth-best mark in the CCAA. He started all eight of his appearances, totaling 35.0 innings with 23 strikeouts. Poole also led the conference with a .220 opposing batting average and issued just five walks, the fewest among CCAA pitchers, highlighting his advanced command and poise.
Tews rounded out Chico State's selections, earning honorable mention after starting all eight of his conference outings. The freshman logged 36.2 innings and struck out 19, gaining valuable experience while contributing to the Wildcats' rotation throughout the season.
