8th-ranked Wildcats hoping big things are ahead

Taylor closing in on 300 wins as Chico State’s Head Coach

No pressure Caltrans, but a sign with the words "Milestones Ahead" would be fitting for the Chico State baseball team as it makes its way to San Bernardino Thursday.

The 30-7 Wildcats – ranked No. 8 in the nation – have the California Collegiate Athletic Association title race first and foremost on their minds. They're 22-6 in the CCAA – percentage points behind first-place Sonoma State and game ahead of third-place UC San Diego – and have a magic number of five to clinch a spot in the CCAA Championship Tournament with 12 to play.

But if they have a successful weekend, some other exciting things could come to fruition as well.

* Head Coach Dave Taylor, who earned collegiate win No. 400 March 23rd, is three wins shy of 300 wins as Chico State's Head Coach.
* Ryne Clark needs six more hits to reach 100 in his career.
* Eric Angerer is four shy of 100 career runs scored.
* Nick Baker needs two more wins and 10 innings to be the third Chico State pitcher with 30 wins and 300 innings.
* Luke Barker is two appearances and four strikeouts from breaking into the top 10 in each of those categories.

The series starts with a single game Thursday at 3 p.m., continues with a doubleheader Friday at 11 a.m. and concludes with a single game Sunday at 11 a.m. Cal State San Bernardino is 11-27 overall and 9-19 in the CCAA.

Only Saturday's game will be broadcast on AM-1290 KPAY. However, all four games will be streamed live HERE.
