Box Score CARSON – The Chico State volleyball team concluded up its 2014 road schedule on a decidedly high note Saturday, as the Wildcats salvaged a split of their SoCal sojourn with a convincing 25-15, 25-12, 25-19 sweep of Cal State Dominguez Hills at the Torodome in Carson. The 'Cats posted a blistering .418 hitting percentage to win for the fifth time away from Acker Gym this year and sweep the season series with the Toros.

single-match record.Saturday's win gets Chico State back to the .500 mark at 12-12 overall and 10-10 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Cal State Dominguez Hills, which snapped a nine-match losing streak Friday against Cal State Stanislaus, fell to 3-21 on the year and 2-18 in CCAA play.
Olivia Mediano led three Wildcat hitters in double figures with a career-high 15 kills, while Kristyn Casalino notched a career-best performance with 13 kills and set a new Chico State single match record with an .867 hitting percentage. Lindsay Quigley had 10 kills, and Shannon Boling contributed eight kills and nine digs. Torey Thompson doled out 41 assists on the night, with Emily Duran adding a team-high 14 digs.
The two teams split the first 10 points of the opening set before two Mediano kills and a pair of Casalino/Hannah Wilkins combo blocks put Chico State in front 10-7. Dominguez Hills pulled to within 11-10, only to see the Wildcats rip off eight straight points – highlighted by kills from Casalino, Quigley and Boling – to go up 19-10. Casalino delivered three late kills and Anu Munkhtur a service ace as the 'Cats went on to score the 25-15 win.
Chico State maintained the momentum in the second set. Aces by Mediano and Thompson and kills by Mediano, Quigley, Boling, Casalino and Wilkins helped the Wildcats roar out to a 13-4 lead, and the Toros were unable to recover. Boling eventually delivered the kill that put the seal on the Wildcats' 25-12 victory.
The 'Cats led from start to finish in the third set, but it was a much more competitive contest. Chico State held a slim 13-12 lead before finally pulling away – two kills apiece by Boling, Casalino, Quigley and Mediano fueled an 11-5 run to put the Wildcats up 24-17. Dominguez Hills survived a pair of match points, but Mediano ended the proceedings with a kill to give the 'Cats the 25-19 win and the match sweep.
Chico State returns home next weekend to wrap up the 2014 season. The Wildcats will host Sonoma State Friday and San Francisco State on Saturday. Both matches are slated for 7 p.m. starts.
