A third of the way into the 2012 Chico State baseball season, some things are already certain: Cody Foster is the team’s center fielder, TJ Yasuhara is the everyday shortstop, Ben Manlove will be behind the dish. Blake Gibbs and Myles Dempsey are going to bat in the middle of the order. You get the picture. Some positions are not so clear, however.

Some other spots in the lineup continue to shake themselves out. This weekend’s series against Academy of Art at Nettleton Stadium marks the Wildcats’ final non-conference series, and for some, perhaps the last best chance to solidify a spot on Head Coach Dave Taylor’s lineup card.

The four-game series begings Friday at 6 p.m. The teams tangle in a doubleheader Saturday at noon, and the series concludes with a single game Sunday morning at 11.

The 15^th-ranked Wildcats enter the weekend with a record of 13-5. After this weekend, they’ll play 28 straight conference games in 52 days in which their postseason fate will be determined.
