’Cats make it seven straight with three-set victory over William Jessup University

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Chico State volleyball team finished off its non-conference schedule in fine form, as the Wildcats won their seventh consecutive match Tuesday night against William Jessup University, beating the Warriors 25-17, 25-22 and 25-23. The victory boosts the ’Cats record to 9-1 on the year.

Makenzie Snyder and Jessica Leek inflicted most of the offensive damage for the Wildcats – Snyder registered a team-high 19 kills, while Leek recorded nine kills against the host Warriors. Snyder was also a factor on the defensive end, chipping in with eight digs and a pair of solo blocks. Sable Villaescusa racked up 27 assists for Chico State, with Leek and Jessica Simms posting 10 digs apiece on the evening.

Not only have the Wildcats won seven straight matches, Chico State has taken 14 consecutive sets and 21 of the last 22 since suffering its only loss of the year August 29 against Northwest Nazarene in Sonoma State’s Seawolf Spike Tournament.

Tuesday’s victory is the 99th in Cody Hein’s Chico State coaching career, and he and the Wildcats will go for No. 100 Friday night when the team travels to the Bay Area to take on San Francisco State in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opener for both schools. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
