David Wellman recently finished ninth in the 800 meters at the NCAA Track & Field Championships. He also recorded an NCAA qualifying time of 3:51.32 in the 1,500 meters.  He finished second in the 1,500-meters and fourth in the 800-meters at the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships. Wellman’s rare combination of athletic ability and academic success earned him a spot on the ESPN The Magazine All-District Team announced Monday. A graduate student in Kinesiology, Wellman’s GPA is the ninth highest among the 36 NCAA and NAIA cross country/track & field male athletes honored on the west coast.
