Editor's Note: At the end of day two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships, two relay teams were disqualified from the 4x400m relay preliminary. Thus, the relay team of Logan Cole, Harrison Hubbard, Brody Staley and Trey Suffredini were placed 12th in the event and will receive second-team All-America recognition.
EMPORIA, Kansas - Chico State wrapped up its second day at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday at Francis G. Welch Stadium, highlighted by appearances in the men's 800-meter preliminaries and the 4x400-meter relay prelims.
Damian Garcia represented the Wildcats in the men's 800-meter preliminaries after entering the national meet ranked 12th in Division II with a school-record 1:48.23 set earlier this month. Garcia competed in Heat 2 and crossed the line in 1:53.49 before later being listed as disqualified in the official results. No additional details regarding the disqualification were immediately available following the race.
Later in the evening, Chico State's 4x400-meter relay team of Logan Cole, Harrison Hubbard, Brody Staley and Trey Suffredini competed in the national preliminaries against one of the deepest sprint relay fields in Division II.
The Wildcats clocked 3:09.53 to finish seventh in their heat and 13th overall nationally. Chico State entered the NCAA Championships ranked 16th in Division II after running a season-best 3:08.92 at the Franson Last Chance Meet earlier this month, the third-fastest time in program history.
Staley closed his NCAA Championships competition after appearing in both the men's 400-meter preliminaries Thursday and Friday's relay. The junior finishes the season as Chico State's school-record holder in both the 200 meters (20.93) and 400 meters (46.56).

Garcia is scheduled close out Chico State's men's competition at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday in the men's 1,500-meter final. The race is scheduled for 1:55 p.m. Pacific Time. He advanced to the 1,500-meter final after placing the second-fastest qualifying time overall during Thursday's preliminaries. The Chico State junior owns the fastest 1,500-meter mark in NCAA Division II this season at 3:35.61.
