TURLOCK, Calif. – The Chico State softball team returns to action this weekend for a series of non-conference games as part of the Mizuno Tournament of Champions, hosted by Cal State Stanislaus. The Wildcats will play a minimum of six games against a 20-school field that includes all nine CCAA softball teams.
Chico State, 11-28 on the season, enter play looking to get back on the winning track after having dropped five straight and nine of its last 11 games. The Wildcats play their first tournament game Friday at 1:45 p.m. against Northwest Nazarene (7-23), then take on St. Martin’s University (3-21) at 6:15 p.m. Saturday the ’Cats go up against Central Washington (16-9) at 11:15 a.m., Western Washington (11-10) at 1:30 p.m. and Western Oregon (13-10) at 6:15 p.m. Sunday the Wildcats will advance to one of three single-elimination brackets, with their opponent to be determined based on Friday and Saturday’s results.
All tournament games will be played at Pedretti Park and Warrior Softball Field in Turlock.
