Interwest Spring Classic tees off Monday at Butte Creek Country Club

CHICO, Calif. – Golfers representing nine different colleges – six schools ranked among the top 25 nationally in Division II – will tee it up Monday and Tuesday as Chico State hosts the Interwest Wildcat Spring Classic, taking place at Butte Creek Country Club.

Joining the the 24th-ranked Wildcats for the 36-hole event are Western Washington University (No. 10 in the nation as determined by the National Golf Coaches Association), No. 12 St. Edwards (Tex.) University, 16th-ranked Sonoma State, No. 19 CSU Monterey Bay, No. 25 St. Martin’s (Wash.) University, Grand Canyon University, Notre Dame de Namur and Simpson College.

Chico State will be led by postgraduate Jen Sanders, who is coming off an 18th place finish in the St. Edwards Invitational earlier this month. Junior Brittany Carerra, ranked 15th nationally in par 4 scoring, will anchor the Sonoma State team, while senior Kaitlin Parker (ranked 18th in par 4 scoring) will head up Western Washington.

Monday’s opening tee time for the Interwest Wildcat Spring Classic is 9:00 a.m. at Butte Creek Country Club, located at 175 Estates Drive, off Highway 99 in south Chico. Tuesday’s final round is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
