CHICO, Calif. – The recent wet weather has kept the Chico State softball team off the field for nearly two weeks, but the Wildcats finally return to action this Friday and Saturday at University Softball Field with a pair of doubleheaders against Cal State San Bernardino.

The ’Cats, 2-5 on the season, will open up CCAA play against the Coyotes, who enter the series with a 5-9 overall record. San Bernardino kicked off conference play last week, dropping three of four against Cal State Stanislaus. This weekend will mark the second time the Wildcats and Coyotes have met this season – San Bernardino edged Chico State 3-2 Feb. 8 at the Best of the West Invitational in Turlock.

The Wildcats were originally to begin conference play last weekend, hosting defending Division II champion Humboldt State, but the two scheduled doubleheaders Feb. 13-14 were postponed due to rain. The dual twinbills have been rescheduled, weather permitting, for this coming Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 23-24 at University Softball Field. The first game of Monday’s doubleheader will start at 1:00 p.m., with Tuesday’s action beginning at 11 a.m.
