Wildcats leave So Cal with two victories

LOS ANGELES - Lindsay Macias led three Wildcats with double-digit kills as the Chico State volleyball team knocked off 22nd-ranked Cal State L.A., 3-1 this afternoon, winning both matches of its Southern California roadtrip. The win evens Chico State's California Collegiate Athletic Conference record at 3-3, 10-6 overall.

Chico State took the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-17. CSLA fought back for a third-set win, 25-23, before the Wildcats finished it off with a 25-20 victory in the fourth.

Macias led all players with 17 digs, to go along with her team-high 13 kills, for her third double-double of the season. Makenzie Snyder, who led the 'Cats in the win over Dominguez Hills on Friday, had 12 kills and three blocks. Crystal Trifeletti recorded 11 kills and four blocks. Erica Brick pulled off a double-double of her own with 42 assists and 10 digs.

The Wildcats hit .271 in the match compared to .110 by the Golden Eagles. Chico State recorded 70 digs to L.A.'s 54 and both teams had nine service aces.

Cal State L.A.'s Ursula Vieira came off the bench to lead all players eith 17 kills and Lindsay Laakso had 16 digs.

The Wildcats return to Acker Gym on Wednesday, Oct. 1 to host Cal State Stanislaus in a 7 p.m. CCAA matchup.
