CHICO Calif.— The Chico State Volleyball team fell to the No. 2 team in the country Saturday night in Acker Gym, losing to Cal State San Bernardino 3-0.

The set scores were 25-20 and 25-12 for the first two sets. In the third set, the Wildcats rallied from a 13-7 deficit to tie the set at 19-19 but couldn’t finish the comeback, losing the set 25-22.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 15-9 on the season and 8-6 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Cal State San Bernardino improves its record to 20-2 and 12-2 in CCAA play.

Gillian Heydorff led the Wildcats with nine kills and Lindsay Macias added eight. Erica Brick and Kelly Smiland each had seven digs.

The Coyotes’ Jessica Granados led all players with 14 kills and hit .414 from the floor. Granados also had two service aces and two blocks. Sara Hoffman led all players with 11 digs.

The ‘Cats will play their final two home games Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, as they take on Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills, 7 pm at Acker Gym.
