Wildcats shut out second straight opponent

CHICO Calif. – The Chico State Women’s Volleyball team completed its second sweep in as many nights, knocking off CSU Monterey Bay 3-0, in Acker Gym on Friday night and improving its overall record to 9-1 against the Otters.

The Otters hung in with the Wildcats early in the first two sets but the ‘Cats pulled away winning the sets 25-20, and 25-18. The third set was a set of runs for the Wildcats, going on streaks of 10-1 and 8-2 to win the set 25-11. The win gives the ‘Cats their sixth straight victory and improves their record to 14-6 and 7-3 at the midway point in California Collegiate Athletic Association action.

Lindsey Macias led all players with 14 kills and added nine digs. Makenzie Snyder had nine kills and Gillian Heydorff and Crystal Trifeletti added eight a piece.

Megan Cape led all players with 14 digs and added six kills and a block. Erica Brick recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 40 assist and 11 digs.

Monterey Bay (6-14, 2-8 CCAA) was led by Rayna Richarson’s seven kills and Katie Bos’ 11 digs.

Next up for the Wildcats is a roadtrip to take on Sonoma State, Friday, Oct. 17 and Humboldt State on Saturday, Oct. 18.
