Chico State golfer Mark Noonan posted the three best rounds of his collegiate career, along with his best tournament finish, shooting three consecutive 69s to finish 9-under par and tied for fourth at the Wildcat Classic at Peach Tree Golf and Country Club in Marysville. Noonan, whose efforts helped lead Chico State to the team title, is the Wildcat of the Week.

The sophomore from Vernon Hills, Illinois, was the only player in the 66-man field to go sub-70 in all three rounds. He finished two shots off the lead after posting 13 birdies and only four bogeys over 54 holes. He finished the tournament 4-under par on the par 4s, 6-under on par 5s, and 1-over on par 3s.
Â
Noonan’s final birdie, on the final hole of the final round, helped propel Chico State to a one-shot victory against Simon Fraser.
Â
Noonan enters this week’s Otter Invitational at Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside averaging 71.2 strokes per round for the Wildcats, who enter the event ranked No. 11 in the nation.
