As she demonstrated countless times during her Chico State women's soccer career, Sarah Emigh was one of those rare athletes that expertly used her drive, enthusiasm, and competitive spirit to bolster her physical talents while bringing out the best in her teammates. At the same time, the Martinez native has utilized these very same qualities in the classroom, and as a result has been named Chico State's 2021–22 Richard Dahl Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. As Emigh puts the finishing touches on her college studies, it gives us one last chance to salute her as Wildcat of the Week.
Emigh's accomplishments have been impressive, to say the least. On the pitch, the talented midfielder posted six goals and five assists during her four Wildcat seasons, helping Chico State reach postseason play three times and earning two NCAA Championship Tournament bids. Emigh also picked up a sizeable number of personal hnors for her quality play, earning three All-CCAA and two All-West Region awards.
What Emigh has achieved in the classroom may be even more impressive. In addition to being named the Richard Dahl Female Scholar Athlete of the Year, she has won no less than eight CCAA All-Academic awards, and last fall earned her second career "Elite 13" Award as the top student-athlete competing in the CCAA Women's Soccer Championship. In 2019, Emigh was a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Region recipient, and to date has received three College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors and three Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Awards.
Emigh is scheduled to complete a double major this fall and graduate with degrees in psychology and nursing. And when Emigh applies her indefatigable drive and enthusiasm to her forthcoming career pursuits, there's no limit in how successful she'll be and how far in life this very special Wildcat will go.
